Pac-Man Hurlock Acropora: A Finicky, Yet Rewarding SPS

The Pac-Man Hurlock acropora, known for its finicky nature, initially thrived, exhibiting rapid growth. Its rapid expansion led to shading of neighboring corals, necessitating a trim. The coral didn't respond well to the pruning, almost dying, but fortunately, I salvaged frags.

Seriatopora caliendrum (Bird's Nest Coral): A Hardy and Bright SPS

The Seriatopora caliendrum, or bird's nest coral, is a hardy choice, perfect for SPS beginners. Unlike the typical green variety, the caliendrum is exceptionally bright. Its dense, close-growing branching pattern is far more aesthetically pleasing than other bird's nests.

Optimus Prime Acropora: A Unique and Slow-Growing SPS

The Optimus Prime acropora from Euro Corals exhibits an unusual growth pattern. For two and a half years, it primarily focused on basing out, carpeting my weir box before finally branching out in the last six months.

While this slow branching growth is unique, it presents a challenge. The potential for it to either look incredible or block flow and light is a consideration. Its unique characteristics and eventual beautiful growth make it a noteworthy coral.
