This detailed review dives into the setup and initial progress of a 24-gallon Aquatop Recife ECO saltwater aquarium. We'll explore the creation of a visually stunning and biologically functional reef environment, from the careful placement of live and dry rock to the establishment of a deep sand bed. The review covers the essential filtration components added to enhance water quality, including the integrated protein skimmer and the selection of filter media like polyester sponges, Kimmi Pure Blue, and various chemical filtration components. We'll also track the critical water parameters, monitoring temperature and salinity with a hydrometer (with plans to upgrade to a refractometer). The process of cycling the tank is documented, highlighting the importance of water testing before introducing any fish. This review offers a glimpse into the practical steps involved in setting up a thriving saltwater aquarium, discussing both the successes and minor challenges encountered along the way. It serves as a useful guide for anyone considering a similar setup, providing insights into the equipment, media, and overall approach to building a healthy and aesthetically pleasing reef tank. Follow along as we prepare for the exciting next step – adding the fish!

Tank Setup and Rock Placement
The Aquatop Recife 24G ECO saltwater aquarium is looking great! I've incorporated both live and dry rock, creating a visually appealing and functional environment. The live rock, with its vibrant purple hues, provides essential biological filtration. Strategically placed rocks form natural caves, offering hiding places for future inhabitants.

I’ve aimed for a deep sand bed, approximately two to three inches, to support beneficial bacteria growth. There's some variation in depth, but it'll settle over time. The placement of the rock creates a really nice landscape and good flow within the tank.

Filtration and Equipment
To enhance filtration, I added new filter media, including polyester sponges. These provide extra biological filtration, supplementing the existing system. A temperature gauge is conveniently placed for monitoring water temperature. Currently, the temperature is at 75.9 degrees Fahrenheit.

I'm using a protein skimmer, along with Kimmi Pure Blue filter media and other essential components. This includes carbon, phosphate remover, nitrate remover, ceramic media, and beneficial bacteria.

The Aquatop heater, with its safety features, ensures the water stays at the optimal temperature, and I've arranged the filter media for better organization.

Water Parameters and Future Plans
In the coming week, I'll take a water sample to the local fish store for testing to determine if the water parameters are suitable for introducing fish. After ensuring the water quality is ideal, I plan to add fish the following week.

For monitoring salinity, I'm currently using a hydrometer. In the future, I plan to upgrade to a refractometer for more accurate measurements.

Additional Accessories and Final Thoughts
I’ve used extra pieces of rock to enhance the aquarium's aesthetic appeal. The polyester mat proves useful for cleaning the glass, though a sponge would've been better.

The Aquatop Recife 24G ECO is an excellent choice for a reef-ready aquarium, with its built-in protein skimmer and light. The tank is currently a little cloudy, but the overall appearance and functionality are impressive.

I’m excited for the next phase – adding fish! Stay tuned for the next update. Remember to subscribe and like the video!
