3D Background Installation

I recently upgraded my Juwel Trigon 350 aquarium with a new 3D background. It's a freebie, a STR background, which adds a really nice, visually interesting element to the tank. I didn't pay extra; someone offered it, and it was a fantastic deal. The installation was straightforward, and the background looks really great against the other elements of the tank.

The material seems durable. Although, I've used similar backgrounds in previous tanks, and while generally good, they can chip or get damaged, but even with some minor damage, the underlying black foam doesn't really detract from the overall look.

Filter System Upgrade and Flow Considerations

Initially, I planned to incorporate an internal filter. However, I decided against it, opting instead to upgrade my existing power head. This upgrade provides more control over water flow and more efficient filtration. The current configuration will enhance water movement and circulation in the tank.

The new dual power head (1000-1500 liters per hour) significantly increases the overall flow rate, complemented by the FX6 filter (approximately 3500 liters per hour). The combined effect is to create a strong, diffused current that keeps the water super clean without causing unnecessary stress to the inhabitants.

Substrate Choice and Lighting

For the substrate, I'm leaning towards nail quartz gravel; it's a light brown color and I've found it to be very durable in the past, plus it is ideal for my Corydoras catfish. My previous experience has shown that this type of gravel doesn't harm my fish.

Regarding lighting, I am considering a two-zone LED light setup. While I haven't made a final decision yet, the two-zone option seems like a good way to provide varied light conditions in the tank, potentially benefiting the fish.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

Overall, this upgrade was a success. The 3D background adds a beautiful visual depth to the tank, and the upgraded filtration system ensures crystal-clear water. The nail quartz substrate is a perfect match for my fish and will suit the Corydoras catfish perfectly.

The additional power head works wonders, creating a strong but diffused current. The two-zone LED lighting system is a nice touch and may improve the fish's environment. The entire setup is creating a very visually appealing and biologically sound environment for my aquatic friends.

If you're looking to enhance your Juwel Trigon 350, I highly recommend considering these upgrades. The 3D background brings visual appeal, and the power head and FX6 filter system provides excellent filtration and water flow. The nail quartz gravel is a good and sturdy option for the substrate.
