New Platinum Angelfish, L264 Plecos & Green Laser Corydoras: A Fish Room Update

This fish room update details recent exciting additions to my aquatic collection. I've finally acquired a stunning adult pair of L264 Sultan plecos, housed in a dedicated 75-gallon tank. These wild-caught specimens, sourced from the reputable Freshwater Exotics, are already settling in nicely, displaying their characteristic beauty despite some minor tail damage on the female. My experience with Freshwater Exotics highlights their commitment to ethical sourcing and competitive pricing – a perspective further enriched by their informative YouTube channel documenting their Brazilian expeditions.Beyond the plecos, this update covers several other noteworthy additions. Seven juvenile Platinum Pearl Scale angelfish, a long-awaited addition, have joined my collection, temporarily residing with the L264s until pairing occurs. Further bolstering the fish room are ten Corydoras sterbai and five green laser Corydoras, the latter destined for a dedicated 40-gallon breeding tank. This expansion wouldn’t have been possible without the cost-effective supplies from Ken's Fish, which significantly undercut local and other online retailers. The update concludes with my plans for breeding the new additions, further expanding my ongoing breeding projects.

L264 Sultan Pleco Tank Update

Recently, I acquired a new pair of L264 Sultan plecos. This adult pair resides in one of my new 75-gallon tanks, a dedicated setup for these beautiful fish. The male shows only a small amount of white tipping on his tail, a characteristic that diminishes with maturity. The female’s tail is currently recovering from some damage, but it's already showing signs of regrowth.

I purchased these plecos from Freshwater Exotics, a direct importer of wild-caught plecos. They offer competitive pricing and provide a fascinating insight into their sourcing through their YouTube channel, where they document their trips to Brazil and interactions with collectors and exporters.

For fish food and supplies, I highly recommend Ken's Fish. They offer incredibly competitive prices on many products, significantly lower than my local fish store (LFS) or other online retailers. I've found substantial savings on items like Fluval Bug Bites, Hikari Paragard, and API General Cure.

New Arrivals: Platinum Pearl Scale Angelfish, Corydoras

This past weekend, I added several new fish to my fish room. The most prominent additions are seven Platinum Pearl Scale angelfish, a variety I've wanted for a while. These fish are currently young, approximately a quarter-size, and will be housed in the L264 tank until they pair off.

I also added ten Corydoras sterbai and five green laser Corydoras. The sterbai were an impulse buy, and their final home is yet to be determined. The green laser Corydoras, however, will go into a dedicated 40-gallon breeder tank, specifically set up for breeding this species with lower temperatures and a focus on bogwood, leaf litter, and mosses.

Conclusion: A Successful Fish Room Expansion

This recent acquisition of Platinum Pearl Scale Angelfish, Corydoras, and the addition to my L264 Pleco tank has been a very successful addition to the fish room. The fish are all healthy and active, settling well into their quarantine. Future plans include breeding the angelfish and the Corydoras, expanding the breeding projects already underway in my fish room.
