Unboxing and First Impressions
The Finnex Ray2 Slim LED light arrived in its packaging, looking quite sleek and compact. The slim profile was immediately noticeable, a departure from bulkier aquarium lights I've used in the past. The package contents included the light itself, mounting brackets, the power cable, and an on/off switch. Everything was neatly organized and easy to access.

Installation and Mounting
Installation was straightforward. The included plastic mounts easily attached to the aquarium, and the light slid onto them smoothly. Adjusting the position was simple, allowing me to perfectly center the light over my tank. The mounting system felt secure and well-designed.

Light Output and Performance
The 7000K daylight white light provided excellent brightness. I was initially concerned about the intensity for my deeper tank, but the light easily penetrated the water column. The light has a slightly yellowish tint, giving a more natural look, which I found appealing. The light's brightness was significantly better than my previous T5 lights and my existing Marine light.

Comparison with Other Lights
I compared the Finnex Ray2 to my existing Marine light. The Marine light is a bluer light. The Finnex Ray2 balances the blue tones of the Marine light and is much brighter. The combination of both lights created a pleasing, vibrant effect in the aquarium, enhancing the colors of the plants and fish.

Conclusion and Overall Impression
The Finnex Ray2 Slim LED is a fantastic addition to my aquarium setup. Its slim design, easy installation, and bright, natural-looking light make it a winner. The increased brightness is a significant improvement over my older lighting, and the ability to combine it with other lights adds versatility. I highly recommend this light for planted tanks, especially those needing a boost in light intensity. I'm eager to see how my plants thrive in the coming weeks and months.
